Hello Dear Readers,
So this is not an Anime title. Though if you know what the inspiration is from points for you 🙂
However the question is a valid one now with Boyfriend Dungeon out on Xbox gamepass. This cute dungeon crawler and dating sim is awesome.
If you like games like Hades but were dying for a more in depth dating experiance this will probably scratch that itch.
You can choose your pronouns, if that is your thing and you can choose your choice of dating partner regardless of their gender. That to me isn’t the coolest part though.
To me the coolest part is that your partner, who ever you choose will be a weapon. Saber, sword etc etc. And you dear reader are the welder of them and that is one of the ways you gain experiance and up their romance level as you go about the dungeon.
Tell me of a game that gives you that! I’ll wait….none that is for sure as far as i am aware. The dating aspect of the game though doesn’t really leave a lot to want. It is pretty routine choose your response up the friendship / relationship level etc etc nothing really new.
The story is pretty bland as well your typical MC who has never had success dating and is spending the summer with your cousin. There is also a slight mystery to solve as well but again nothing to crazy to write home about.
Still though it is a great game and i highly recommend this to anyone and everyone who likes a dungeon crawler or dating sim to give this a go you will mot regret it.
Hey party people so i was thinking. What keeps me coming back to Otome games, Rpgs, JRPGs and the like and i thought about it and its the choice. At least for me. The choices also help shape the world we make and our own stories.
If we sit back and look at Otome games, or any dating sim we play to be able to choose that guy or girl we want to romance. THEN, we go back and do it again to see what we missed in prior path. Plus who doeen’t love yummy hot men fauning over you. There is also the added benefit that we get to see the other story arcs finish up nicely as well.
In many RPG’s or JRPG’s you can choose who you marry, among many other options. Look at famous games of this like the Fable, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, KOTOR. Speaking for myself i loved going back and choosing different things from a privous playthrough and see how it changes.
Choice, even when it comes to the dialog is a factor as well. You can make jokes, flirt. Be broodish and just enjoy being pulled in that much more to what is going on in the world around you. Will your party members love you or hate you. Will you be the hero or the villian of your story. The diologe choices we make help that.
All of these above are just of course my examples and by no means the end all and be all of choices and examples big or small. What do you all think? Does choice matter to you or is there another reason you come back to Otome games, RPG’s or JRPG’s.
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
Awhile ago i finished Monster Prom XXL on my switch. This was a really epic visual novel / Dating sim. Regardless of who you go for on your first, second, or third playthrough you’ll have a great time.
The humor the game has is awesome along with really hitting the itch of almost like playing a highschool movie. Depending on what you do depends on what outcome you get and brings you back to the antics of playing a good game of dodgeball among friends.
Though there are great interactions doing the little things in the game the best stuff comes from the caf and choosing who to sit with and reading the absolutely hysterical banter between two of your possible romance options. The fact that the game also mixes up who sits with who as well means you’ll come back for more each time which is a nice touch.
The other thing i found really interesting about this game is that you can fail in your mission to have a romantic partner. You can go to ask them at the end of the time period and they can flat out reject you. Its not always sunshine and rainbows in highschool and that is okay.
Along with a few secret endings which i am sure at my time of writing a quick google search can make them not so secret this game has a ton to offer at its base. Add the DLC and you’ll have that much more to talk about and discover at camp haha.
The last thing i’ll add is this could be a great group game. It has multiplayer capabilites to it so get the friends together pop open some wine and relive what highschool could have been lime if we were monsters with Monster Prom XXL.
So the Count of Saint Germain has been keeping me company while I recover from a small surgery. We’ve been walking around the London of Code Realize: Gaurdian of Rebirth and he has been showing me all the differences of a steam city of the 19th Century. Now it will be interesting to see how the game plays out this myth of a man. Will I know why he regularly prays will i end up being the one of the reasons why he smiles? He is not an easy read.
The count up to this point of Code Realize seems to just be along for the fun of it. He is not a master thief like Lupin, or Vampire hunter like Van Hellsing, or tinker with machines like Impey or master chemist like Victor. He in the plan of a heist would be the money haha.
Saint Germain is allowing us all to stay at his country estate simply because it tickles his fancy. The only reason he knows of Lupin and Impey at the start of the game is because he ran into them and insisted to take part in their plan not because he was actually recruited. I find this interesting from a story standpoint because it is a lingering question of why?
I will be interested in seeing how the MC and the Count relationship evovles as the stories continue. He has been great company while i recover. Now we are off to rob a train talk later. 🙂
Hello Dear Friends! 🙂
So i spent Sunday gaming in bed playing Code Realize: Gaurdian of Rebirth since pain wise it was not the best of days.
Then i was swept away and taken to a carnival by Lupin, Victor and Impey. Truly a great time. The smells of vendors, the laughter, the good times. This route since it is my first play through i decided to spend it with Victor and munching on some fairy floss. Which can i just say screw calling it cotton candy. I hear by say we need to bring back the term fairy floss haha.
Victor thus far is my favorite guy in this game. He is sweet, caring, smart and geeky haha. All in the best of ways. Also does no one else think its funny that he has a pair of victorian headphones around his neck. Like what does he plug them into. i love how in this game we can see them starting their day around the breakfast table enjoying a meal and figuring out their plan for the day ahead.
Might switch things up and see if the count has anything to say or do. Everyone if they haven’t needs to read where our charming men come from in in myth and ledgend. Really fancinating stuff.
These men in these games make a lazy painful sunday so much more enjoyable. What do you all do to unwind?
Wow am I on a back log haha. Also I got two more Otome games. SO to review here is what’s on my Otome backlog plate.
- Finish Cafe Enchante
- Finish Collar X Mallice

Clearly I have my work cut out for me but I am excited. I have already started Collar X Mallice and Code Realize so i’ll keep everyone posted. What does everyone else have on their back log list?
