Hogwarts I love it and want more

Hey Dear Readers,

I thought I posted earlier in 2023 but nope. So my bad.

Hogwarts Legacy has been out for a little over a week and it is amazing. Yes there are bugs, no it is not perfect but this wild leap away from anything having to do with the boy who lived and allowing us to create our own witch or wizard is amazing and a long time coming.

The battle system is fun and fluid. I truly feel as if I am in a duel with a dark wizard as spells fly. When you fight the animal enemies, mainly spiders it is still fun but not the same.

The field guide we get is a great way to chronicle our progress in the game and easy to use. However it is not perfect. Such as upon completing a challenge we have to go in and collect the reward. If the game can tell us we completed something it can also give us the reward at the same time.

Though I love the game for me when it comes to the story there are to many unknowns about the character we make that I still have questions on and I feel the developers missed an opportunity in fleshing out our story and background more.

Example. We are a 5th year student coming to Hogwarts. Where has our character been the 4 years prior that they have not attended Hogwarts.

When it comes to our background, who are we? Are we pureblood, half blood, do we have muggle parents. These are all things I want to know or feel should have been involved in the process of making the character.

All of that being said this game for so many Potter fans is a dream come true and my hope is that they continue to run with this moving forward.

Mental Health is part of our health Gaming and our community can help

Hey Dear Readers,

I know i take breaks from the blog and for that i am sorry. One thing you all don’t know is i have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and with medicine and therapy and gaming it all helps keep me center.

However i feel like another major factor is my gaming group. They are friends across time zones but they are ones who along with my family i always update on my medical saga.

I know people say that watching our favorite shows is a side of accepting and coping with trauma and though i can say there is some truth to it but, for me another way i deal is by playing my games.

Be it ESO, FALLOUT 76, or something else you fall into that world you make that character and you start your path. Yes you can do it alone but being with friends is part of what makes gaming such a wonderful hobby.

G.A.D makes me worry and regardless of the situation my mind when it was really bad would always jump to the worst possible situation even if logically i know it wasn’t possible or likely to happen. Phone calls, emails, personal calls it was at its worst crippling with me having to screen calls just to call them back so i could mental prepare myself to be on a call and talk to myself logically off the ledge of crazy not likely to happen situations.

Gaming settles my mind down and allows me to hone in and focus without the distraction of needing to answer the phone, emails popping up or needing to handle a fire or curveball from work. I know when i press a button something will happen be it intetacting with an item or jumping or using a spell / weapon etc. Gaming holds few surprises.

Maybe this is nearly 7am rambling but maybe this is something someone needs to read. I hope you all know regardless of your mental health or health in general its a process and a journey that never ends. That is okay though. Talk to your doctors, therapist, change meds or dosage to see if something else works is all okay to do.

When the writing still falls short

Hello Friends and Readers,

I cannot sleep and i’ve been formating this post in my head for nearly a month now. So, i figured why not strike while the iron is hot and i cannot sleep.

I am STILL playing through ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) and i am loving it. I am if you cannot tell from my prior postings big on storh and boy does ESO deliver. That said though it falls short at times when, in my opinion matters. I’ll give some examples below but of course i’d love to hear your thoughts.

1. The race you choose should have more of an impact on how the world reacts to you. They do this somewhat but not nearly as much as they should.

As an Argonian if you are in the Ebon heart pact there is a side quest in Deshann where you are saving a local village of fellow Argonian the Elder recognized you as a fellow Saxhleel and you respond in kind saying you want to help.

Small things like this happen if you are in the correct alliance with one of the allied races. However if you are for example a Khajiit in the Ebon heart pact gets nothing dialog wise which is a let down from a story standpoint

2. Same can be said for if you choose to become a werewolf or vampire. Yeah you have small dialog with Lyris and Count Ravenwatch if you are a Vampire but not much else. Furthermore if you are a vampire during the second half of the greymoor chapter. Your vampire companion doesn’t even acknowledge you as a vampire and you have to use pirtals to travel around. That was a missed opportunity if i ever knew one.

I respect that this is an MMO so it is unlikely that all boxes could be checked but this lack of forsight just seems lazy to me. I still love the game but it takes me out of my experiance of being my character and the story i am telling in my head.

What do you all think. Have you come across this in games you love?

End Game.

Hey Dear Readers,

Question for you all. Specifically to MMO’s does end game matter to you?

As i had said in my prior post i’ve been playing a TON of ESO, Elder Scrolls Online. Now my dear Grey Claws is not even remotely in the thousands for his champion points level. As of last night he was i think 616.

My friends and i were trying to run Fang Lair and i was not putting out enough damange for my class. So after we gave up on the run. One of my guildmates was helping me understand things specific to end game and gear and abilities.

Now that guildmate was correct on many points. However when he was explaining it i felt extremely out of my depth and almost as if i were in a college lecture and it was coming at me way to fast and was extremely overwhelming.

So, this got me thinking. Does it matter? Sure some of this thought came from a bitter pill i had to swallow on not being good enough team wise, and yes that needed to change if i wanted to run harder vet content.

However, if i was just solo playing PVE cotent which there is a ton of i was melting enemies left and right. So i was frusterated to say the least.

During that long talk with my guildmate. I kept thinking “I just want to play MY game and not worry about how much i do damage wise. I just want to have fun”. I realized though for me its about balance. After i slept on the issue and came back to it with a clearer head and started to rework Grey Claws I did see a change; which even helped in the in PVE content.

Now, truth be told i have not run my new build in a vet dungeon but i am feeling good and most importantly the changes i made were right for me and how i play.

What do you all think of end game content? Is it worth it. Should at that point just be a numbers game or what. Do games need to rework it or how should it be handled. Let me know in the comments.

The Adventure of Grey-Claws

Hello my dear readers! 🙂

I promise you all i am very much still alive. I took a bit of a blogging break for reasons. However, that does not mean i have not been gaming. If you all have been watching my twitch streams, or the replays you’ll know i have been knee deep in ESO or otherwise known as ElderScrolls Online.

I decided with the now new release of their next year long story coming June 21st at the time for Xbox if i was going to get back into the game now wohld be the time. So my one and only character Grey-Claws was made.

Grey-Claws is a Khajit Necromancer and boy do i have a blast playing him. So far as of this posting i am in the Summerset DLC zone with hopes of getting to the High Isle storyline soon.

Between dungeons, delves, open world bosses, crafting, daily quest, in game events there is more then enough to keep you and your character busy for THOUSANDS of hours. Plus with the latest expansion ESO launched its own in game card game.

Now is 100% the best time to get back into ESO if you are a new or returning player.

My Time in Elden Ring

Hey Dear Reader and Friends,

Let me start by saying I am NOT a souls player. I tried darksouls 3 and my god, it was a bloodbath. I am not afraid of a good fight but this was something totally different and your dear Otome was not a fan. Now to bring us to Elden Ring. Came in on the 25th the day it launched and wow I actually got it. Now I am by no means the best and youtube is a welcome friend along with my other gaming pals but Elden Ring at least almost 2 weeks in to me has a really nice mix and balance of challenge and reward. Is it perfect, no, but what game is. The multiplayer in my opinion needs a rework but that may be on me. The idea of summoning your friend only to lose them again at the end of a dungeon or to restrict the amount of flasks you can bring with you I get it ups the challenge. However, maybe it ups it to much?

What do you all think of the game.

Tried to start a game group in my condo building… It failed.

Hey Dear Readers!

I know it’s been a minute but I have a good reason, I had tried to start a board game and card game group in my building. Though I seemed to cause the ladies in my building enough to talk about no one seemed interested and or Covid caused them to get cold feet.

So here I am with a small library of board and card games and few people to game with the exception of my dear friend R. She and I only are able to get together on Wednesday or Thursday schedule depending of course. Fear not though dear friends, I am still gonna keep at it.

There is a local club that gets together on Tuesday but I’ve yet to make it there. Plus Covid keeps changing everything so I’ll see what happens with that. Presently R and I are having great time playing Unstable Unicorns the NSFW version, Also we only have one more box from our Mallory Rock story until we can wrap that case up and start the next one.

Getting into Boardgame and Card games a great hobby

Hello my wonderful readers!

Happy Newyear! I hope everyone had fun. I however got a cold. BOOO lol. So since Covid is still very much a thing so on top of gaming. I have really gotten into the hobby of board and card games. From Monopoly to Farkle to anything in between my friend R and I have been getting into it. Here are a few of what we have been playing.

  1. Chess
  2. Yhatzee
  3. Farkle
  4. Splendor
  5. Qwixx
  6. Fox in the Forest
  7. HAK stand alone board games
  8. Catan Rivals

We have had great fun with all of these and will continue to keep up the hobby. What is everyone playing board and card game wise? I taught my mother how to play fox in the forest and she was hooked and beat me two times in a row. Was an interesting way to bring in the new years! lol.

Has anyone seen how good gaming food look?

Hello Awesome Readers,

So maybe this is because i just got done making my first ever crockpot meal while having Julie and Julia playing in the background but has anyone noticed how awesome meals in games look?

Like regardless of if it is Zelda Breath of the Wild or Pokemon Sword and Shield. They all looked good. This also may help explain why i have a stomach and not the six pack abs i dream of every night haha.

I don’t know how many of you would do this and i still have a ways to go on the curry dex but there were times i would just play pokemon to figure out the newest combination or if i could get gold again.

Same with playing BOTW i would run around the land and collect in ingredients to throw in the pot to see what affect it may have.

There is something so universal and so amazing about food being able to bring people together isn’t there. Haha.

Upgrading to the XBOX Series S

Hey Dear Readers,

Its been a few weeks since my last update and that is due to my Xbox 1 I gave to my folks so they could stream their favorite shows. My mother is in heaven let me tell. I have since upgraded to the series S all digital edition. So far I am loving it. However I’ll admit I am not blown away.

I am saying this because, for me it is a lot like having normal radio vs having Satellite radio. Sure it is nice to have the extra channels but if you don’t have it you aren’t missing much and you carry on with your rocking local channels. My S is great and I am thrilled to have updated but it is not Wowing me the way I expected it would as of yet. Maybe once more titles come out or I upgrade my tv I will then see a difference. Here is hoping at least haha.

How is everyone else doing? Did we enjoy our thanksgiving.
