45 Hours into Hogwarts Legacy still going strong

Hey Readers,

Let’s be real most articles coming out say that the main story is roughly 20 hours and most regular players are about 30-35 hours.

I am 45 hours in as of my last save and just now about to finish the main story. I have my list of things to still do. Such as finding all Shiney Magical Beasts, finishing landing platforms and my field guide as a whole.

I’ll admit I find the start of the game the most exciting. Getting your house sorted, finding your wand and the dueling club just a total blast.

It is nice that the game as you continue your story opens up for more freedom and what you can do with your free time between quests and classes but at times I struggle wanting to do the platforms, or the ancient wells of power.  I would rather find another class to do as a side quest, not just left to find something to do on my own

It’s an odd complaint for sure. I think it is just that too much of an open world can, for me as a gamer, be super overwhelming.

Mental Health is part of our health Gaming and our community can help

Hey Dear Readers,

I know i take breaks from the blog and for that i am sorry. One thing you all don’t know is i have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and with medicine and therapy and gaming it all helps keep me center.

However i feel like another major factor is my gaming group. They are friends across time zones but they are ones who along with my family i always update on my medical saga.

I know people say that watching our favorite shows is a side of accepting and coping with trauma and though i can say there is some truth to it but, for me another way i deal is by playing my games.

Be it ESO, FALLOUT 76, or something else you fall into that world you make that character and you start your path. Yes you can do it alone but being with friends is part of what makes gaming such a wonderful hobby.

G.A.D makes me worry and regardless of the situation my mind when it was really bad would always jump to the worst possible situation even if logically i know it wasn’t possible or likely to happen. Phone calls, emails, personal calls it was at its worst crippling with me having to screen calls just to call them back so i could mental prepare myself to be on a call and talk to myself logically off the ledge of crazy not likely to happen situations.

Gaming settles my mind down and allows me to hone in and focus without the distraction of needing to answer the phone, emails popping up or needing to handle a fire or curveball from work. I know when i press a button something will happen be it intetacting with an item or jumping or using a spell / weapon etc. Gaming holds few surprises.

Maybe this is nearly 7am rambling but maybe this is something someone needs to read. I hope you all know regardless of your mental health or health in general its a process and a journey that never ends. That is okay though. Talk to your doctors, therapist, change meds or dosage to see if something else works is all okay to do.

It’s okay to go offline

Hello Readers,

So i often think we as gamers need to remember its okay to go offline. You’re thinking okay Otome. What do you mean by that. Well let me tell you my dear reader.

I mean two things from that.

1. Don’t forget we live on this big ball with nature, and birds, and sunshine. Every now and then get out of your room, or house and see the outside world. Your mental health and eyes will thank you. Even if it just to decompress from that last boss battle, or that crazy round you just had in a shooter.

2. Also probably most importantly. Don’t forget to take time for you. Yes i know you’re thinking you game there for you already are taking time for you. Yes that is true enough but i mean more then that. Don’t forget your favorite shows or maybe that one anime you’ve been meaning to watch but you just haven’t had a moment to yourself when you get online to do that.

That is what going offline is for we gamers love our games. No duh, and we also love our gaming community we’ve built up of all our friends. However that said. I don’t know about you all but at times when i get online i go into the who is gonna invite me to their party first mode.

Don’t get me wrong it is wonderful to feel loved by my gaming friends but as someone who cut the cable cord and use my xbox to stream there are times where i just want a me day

If i join my friends later on great but i really want a day where i can binge watch some Downton Abbey or just get losy in a youtube hole and take a mental break from killing bosses or grinding that next level out.

Maybe you all can be in a party with friends who are gaming or doing their own thing while you are doing yours and if you can that is awesome. I know a few people like that but i would just remind you to take time for you.

Enjoy going offline and being in the moment as much as we all love going into our digital worlds of choice. 🙂

So here is my question for you all. Aside from gaming what is something you all do for you. Give me another hobby you like. 🙂 i can’t wait to read them.
